The council is taking part in this year’s Doors Open Day.

Visitors will be invited to view the Council Chamber and selected meeting rooms within South Lanarkshire Council Headquarters on Friday 4 September.

Tours will be at 10:15am, 11:30am, 1pm and 2pm, with a maximum of 12 people per tour.

The tours must be prebooked and can be done so by email.

The Category A listed modernist building was designed by D.G. Bannerman and opened by HRH The Queen Mother in 1964.

The striking modernist design, inspired by the United Nations Headquarters in New York, includes a prominent office tower and a distinctive circular Council Chamber.

A short guided tour will take place enabling visitors to discover the stories behind one of Lanarkshire's most recognisable civic buildings.

Council staff will be on hand throughout the day to answer questions and share insights into the building, local democracy and the services provided to communities across South Lanarkshire.

More details are available on the Doors Open Day website.
